En esta ocasión nos deleitan con una versión del clásico "Bring Down The Birds" de Nick Welsh aka King Hammond, productor de Bad Manners, The Selecter, Prince Buster, Laurel Aitken y un largo etc. En la cara B encontramos una versión del mismo tema a cargo de Nick Record Kicks con un tempo más ralentizado creando una genial atmósfera cercana al Dub.

This new track by the Crabs is produced by the legendary Nick Welsh aka King Hammond, a true hero of the UK reggae scene that has written for, played with and produced artists such as Bad Manners, The Selecter, Prince Buster, Dave Barker, Laurel Aitken, Judge Dread, Rhoda Dakar & Rico Rodriguez, amongst others. On this new 45 Nick puts his own twist on the Hancock classic, slowing down the pace and imbuing the track with a laidback, almost dub atmosphere; fire indeed!.

Cuando Laurel Aitken llegó a tierras inglesas en 1960 cómo una de las sensaciones del momento de la música Jamaicana, firmó un contrato con el sello independiente Melodisc. Durante los siguientes años se dedicó a grabar varios temas de proto-Ska que fueron editados en 7" ahora mismo imposibles de encontrar. Por primera vez estos temas se recopilan en un CD de 28 temas donde se recoje el legado de estos temas que han marcado una importante influencia en la música Jamaicana.
[eng] Immediately after landing on British soil in the summer of 1960, Jamaican singing sensation Laurel Aitken was signed by leading independent record company, Melodisc, and over the next few years he provided the ambitious concern with a slew of popular proto-Ska singles that were instrumental in establishing its newly launched Blue Beat subsidiary as the UK?s most recognisable West Indian music imprint. The very best of these historic and hugely influential recordings are gathered on this compilation - most being made available on CD for the very first time - and with original copies of these highly collectable sides almost impossible to obtain at any price, ?You Got Me Rockin?? provides an opportunity to enjoy almost all of Laurel?s Melodisc output for a fraction of the price of an old scratched Blue Beat single.
