BASTARDS. Schizo Terrorist (Feathered Apple) 15.00 EUR
. Swissfranks KILLER long awaited LP of nine snotty Swiss Punk blasts from April/May 1978 by the first Swiss punk band. THE BASTARDS came from Geneva (=home also to JACK & THE RIPPERS, THE YODLER KILLERS, and TECHNYCOLOR etc.) and were called THE SLAM during 1976-1977. Their family tree goes back to the mid 60s. On this historic Swiss Punk LP you get to hear some fantastic, snotty Punk vocals courtesy of THE BASTARDS sexy-voiced female lead-singer MARIE-PIERRE, as well as from THE BASTARDS male bandleader, and fantastic songwriter SANDRO SURSOCK.
This never before released Swiss Punk LP includes all 3 killer classic tracks off THE BASTARDS superrare and lone 1979 EP on the Zaki label: "Impossibilities," "Danger," "Schizo Terrorist;" as well as 4 previously unreleased cuts from the same May 13th 1978 T.H.C. recording studio session: "I Can't Stand Your Guts," "I Don't Care," THE BASTARDS killer previously unreleased 2nd Single of "Loser" b/w "Apathy," plus 2 never before released TOP soundquality live tracks: Gloria (ultimate punk version of the P. Smith version), and a raw live version of Danger. This is a KILLER LP of classic early punk the likes of THE HEARTBREAKERS, RAMONES, RICHARD HELL, THE STOOGES, FLAMIN GROOVIES, REAL KIDS, SEX PISTOLS, SAINTS, KIDS etc.
This thick 180 gramm LP ships with a large 2-sided BASTARDS bonus Poster inside, and comes with detailed english written linernotes by THE BASTARDS leader Sandro Sursock himself! This 100% official LP has a full and authentic soundquality.

BOB BURNS AND THE BREAKUPS. Frustration (P.Trash) 13.00 EUR. There ain't nothing much to do in a mid-west one-horse town in the middle of the Wisconsin farmland except spitting out all your teenage frustration. While their high-school comrades go to the agricultural fair, the tractor-pull or down to the churchhouse, these three youngsters meet in stinky basements to yell an rage. This debut full-length unleashes 12 short, fast and crunchy tunes that bring early NEW BOMB TURKS, MARKED MEN or THE HEARTATTACKS to mind. Sharp, snotty and distorted riffs a la CATHOLIC BOYS and a raspy trashcan voice give songs like "Blow Your Head", "Outta My Face", "Trash City" or "My Kicks" an authentic twist. These boys are pissed off and they mean it. A 20 minutes electroshock therapy on 45rpm that cures every frustration. Don't waste your money on psychoanalysis. It burns, burns, burns!

CAREER SUICIDE. Attempted Suicide (Deranged) 12.50 EUR. It's hard to believe but after five years and a whole slew of vinyl, Toronto's CAREER SUICIDE have produced their finest record yet! The combination of machinegun drumming from Brandon Ferrell (Direct Control, Government Warning) and raw but crystal clear production from Jon Drew (Fucked Up "generation" and "Hidden World") make this LP a classic. CS manages to combine catchy 'Killed By Death' styled punk sing alongs like the title track and the raw speed and power of early hardcore whilst overwhelmingly maintaining and refining their own sound. Superb songwriting is definitely the key; there are no thirty-second-thrash filler songs here! You will find this whole LP permanently roaring through your brain. It is tighter, louder, harder, and more realized than any of the CS releases which preceded it, so do yourself a favor and pick up the best but hopefully not last LP from CAREER SUICIDE.

DEMON?S CLAWS. Satan?s Little Pet Pig (In The Red) 13.00 EUR. Hailing from Montreal, The Demon's Claws emerged from a healthy rock'n'roll scene that also gave the world the King Khan & BBQ Show, Les Sexareenos, The Sunday Sinners and a multitude of other like minded roots rock deconstructionists.
The group was brought to the attention of In The Red by The Black Lips, who proclaimed, "The Demon's Claws are the best band we've seen on tour in the last year," an opinion to be taken very seriously, as The Black Lips are on tour about 300 days a year and know their rock'n'roll better than most. The Canadians were signed immediately followingtheir first ever LA show. Part Gun Club, part Back From The Grave, part lo-fi distorted crunch, part young Mick Jagger with a mouth full of pills, they play with an "aw, fuggit" swagger, falling all over the beat then pulling it together before anyone gets hurt. Like flooring a V8 down a back road, they let the gravel fly but somehow always avoid the ditch. Inside this shiny gem you'll find glimpses of deserts and rattlesnakes, bits of blood and guts, some love and jerkin' off and even a couple of honest-to-god country songs.

FUCKED UP. Hidden World (Deranged) 2xLP 21.00 EUR. Review From Razorcake Mag: ?Truly great bands will make you eat your words and you'll smile with every bite. They'll challenge your fundamental musical beliefs. Fucked Up is one of those bands. Last week, if you would have told me that I'd be defending a band with a nine and half minute song, I'd of said, "Fuck you and all the Asia records ever made." But, somehow, Fucked Up has been able to take that hallowed two-minutes-and-out energy, and blow it apart. It's like whomever first discovered America: it got expanded and exploited way beyond anyone's wildest expectations. Grand Canyon in scope, Hidden World spans seventy-something minutes, sweeping and filling every section with an awe that gets infinitely larger. I got this same feeling - nowhere near the sound - from Turbonegro's Apocalypse Dudes and Dillinger Four's Midwestern Songs of the Americas. All these musical notes lying on the ground, seemingly scattered and broken up by subgenre, pigeonholed by the lazy hacking of sounds, trampled by careless or not-as-talented-as-they-thought musicians? These notes, they all belong together. They all fit. Somehow. And for?for all intents and purposes to the world at large?Fucked Up is "just" a hardcore band. Good lord, what ambition. There's about ninety-nine levels to this record and I'm gonna keep listening deeper and deeper.?

FUCKED UP. Let Likes Be Cured By Likes (Schizophrenic) 12.50 EUR. A reissue of the 1994 live album from controversial Toronto-based hardcore band FUCKED UP. Limited edition pressing on two-colored vinyl, packaged in dual paper sleeves. These will be gone fast.

HANK IV. Third Person Shooter (Hook Or Crook) LP+CD 15.00 EUR. Not to be confused with the well known series of similarly monickered Hank Williams offspring, HANK IV is a San Francisco rock combo trafficking an ill-advised mix of panic-skiffle drum beats, dual-guitar histrionics, primitive craw-stick melodics, and straw-boss vocal gymnastics. In little more than a year, Hank IV have built a reputation as one of the Bay Area's most thoroughly entertaining (that is: way hard-rockin?, hilarious, unpredictable, dance-worthy, snappy and wry) live acts, winning over both early twentysomething Mission sceneutantes and grizzled Revolver staffer/lifer types in a series of memorable, each-one-better than-the-last, shows with the Country Teasers, Times New Viking, Quintron, Pterodactyl, Blowfly, Hospitals, Battleship and a heck of a lot more. Now, despite the odds, these aged and well-bred gentlemen of taste and leisure have delivered a real thinking, drinking man's rock record. Recorded by ELI CREWS (Erase Errata, Crime, Deerhoof, Flying Luttenbachers, No Doctors, Total Shutdown, XBXRX) at New Improved Recordings in Oakland, and mixed by TIM GREEN (The Fucking Champs, Melvins, Comets on Fire, Flakes) at Louder Studios in San Francisco, Hank IV?s Third Person Shooter promises to be one of 2006's most bafflingly beloved releases. "What teacher's lounge did these guys meet in? These over 35s knocked out some great Crime meets Chain Gang meets Viletones meets Styrenes punk rock that hearkens back to the dark grunt of late ?70s Frisco punk, while remaining fresh. And now that I know that this band is made up of former members of Icky Boyfriends, Resineators, Mr & Mr & Mr & Mr Evil, Leather Uppers, Bum-Kon, and at least a dozen more bands. It really should be no surprise that these music freaks are one of the better bands I've heard in a frog's leap"--Scott Soriano, Terminal Boredom. Includes a bonus CD version with each copy.

HEAD. No Hugging, No Learning (Evil Clown) 12.50 EUR. The greatest Ramones clones of all time are back with a brand new LP, and its right on par with "Monkeys". Ive been dancing around the house since the package arrived. 10 more buzzsaw guitar/bass/drums blasts with possibly their sickest lyrics yet! Includes a cover of the Turtles "Outside Chance?. Comes with a lyric sheet and fold out poster. ... I ain't even gonna tell ya!

HEX DISPENSERS. S/T (Alien Snatch!) 12.50 EUR. Dismiss! Masks on! Or get hexed now with our favorite new band of 2006! We have 07 and AS hauteurs we're continuing to blast out the pure hits! Screw the bolts thru yer head for this debut release! The HEX DISPENSERS officially started on 6.6.06 and they contaminate us with evil pop and arsenic rock. From Austin, TX - the trio is Alex Cuervo on vocals and guitar (formerly in BLACKTOP, the KING SOUND QUARTET, the GOSPEL SWINGERS, the NOW TIME DELEGATION, a FEAST OF SNAKES and THIS DAMN TOWN), Tom Kodiak (KODIAKS, DIRTY SWEETS) on guitar and Alyse Mervosh (THIS DAMN TOWN, WINKS) on the best sounding drums. This is up-beat simple, loud, blues-poisened powerpop. Alex' dark powerful hydra-head vocals is absorbing you while the catchy hooks will suck you on completely. ALIEN SNATCH! is famous for their power pop taste so you know what to expect. Further, it's a tricky call. Where some veterans may get reminded of the MISFITS, some vets may say RAMONES went monster & cemetery fuzz. Some, slighty younger rockers may hear dashes of SWINGING NECKBREAKERS groove. This is haunted late '70s powerpop, which reverbs make any indie discos to freak out without this being disco or electro or postanything. We all get hexed - shit, we love that! They toured the US and got radio airplay with their demo so it was a matter of time when jinxed two of elite, likewise prominent craftsmen of home recording to finish this addictive potion of rock'n'roll - recording and mixing is done by Mark Ryan of the MARKED MEN while the mastering is served by Jay Reatard. All on 45 RPM. 10 Songs, nine originals and 'Down In The Park' from TUBEWAY ARMY. 200 gram vinyl.

HIPSHAKES. Shake Their Hips (Slovenly) 12.50 EUR. Fourteen blistering tracks of teenage angst from The Nook, Up the Chimney, Bagshaw Hill, UK. These three young chaps are sure to make the likes GG ALLIN, GUITAR WOLF, THE REATARDS, and even THE STONES very proud. Eric of OBLIVANS recently showed his approval with a release on his fine GONER RECORDS label. Excruciatingly loud trash punk straight from the garage that blares so loud that we applied a warning label for your speakers.

JUANITA Y LOS FEOS. Robot Gigante Avanzado 12? (Manuel Bang).

KORO. Speed Kills (Sorry State) 13.00 EUR. Review From MRR #284: Impossible to find, even when it came out (took me six months!), the EP by Knoxville, TN?s KORO was an enigmatic obscurity that, unlike the suggestion of the band?s moniker, has only grown larger in impact and influence with time ? a precisely played, intricate yet hyper attack of youth-driven ?80s hardcore. This eleven-song LP is culled from cassette demo recordings that were done after the legendary EP and clock in around sis minutes longer than the eight minute eight-song 7?, replicating four of the EP tracks. What the slight difference in song length suggest and delivers is extended compositions and quirkier songs mixed with the same manic thrash drilling. This sullies a bit compared to the crystal clear direct impact of the EP; the songs are bogged down by mid tempo musical complexity and/or ?growth? (?Feelin? Pretty Minimal?? Oof! Not minimal enough!), the trashing hasa slighty more muted, measured, and looser delivery, and the cheap sassette rawness (even doctored up pretty well by mastering) is a detriment opposed to an asset. As each fragmented piece of the ?80 hardcore puzzle gets thrown under the microscope, this particular artifact holds up ? strong enough as a raw demo, and a fun way to view a classic band with very little documentation from an different angle ? but is a weaker vision than the band?s classic EP. Comes with a well done, extensive, and informative interview detailing the history of the band.

MARKED MEN. Fix My Brain (Swami) 12.50 EUR. The third blow-out album from THE MARKED MEN. Enormous, fevered songs blasted with high velocity beats, tuneful licks and powerhouse harmonies. Thirteen tracks in all.

MARY WEISS & REIGNING SOUND. Dangerous Game (Norton) 13.00 EUR. The leader of the pack is back! MARY WEISS, the lead singer of the SHANGRI-LAS, returns with a bang on her first recordings in four decades! Mary tackles thirteen originals by today?s top songwriters plus reclaims ?Heaven Only Knows,? backed by Memphis fan faves the REIGNING SOUND! Produced by BILLY MILLER and GREG CARTWRIGHT, this record started making noise as soon as session details began to filter out! Mary?s return to the stage coincides with this release, slated for dates in Cleveland and at SXSW in Austin TX. You?ve spent a lifetime with ?Leader Of The Pack,? ?Remember (Walking In The Sand),? ?Give Him A Great Big Kiss,? ?Out In The Streets,? and ?I Can Never Go Home Anymore?--now get ready to blast forth with a brand new collection of Mary Weiss classics. The voice, the attitude, the magic that is... Mary Weiss.

MOJOMATICS. Songs For Faraway Lovers (Alien Snatch) 12.50 EUR. Review from Now Wave Magazine: You know, I'm not a guy of too much words and have been thinkin' lately why the fuck I still write in English and didn't stop to just write in Spanish, a language where I can express everything I feel about an album much much better than in English...buuuuuut!!!!!
I'm stupid, yeah, that's the only real reason. Another reason to think that, it is that Rutledge already wrote a good review of this, so my review isn't necessary, but it's cool to write a review of the Mojomatics because it means, "Hey, that stupid Spanish guy has great taste". So I do it.
Their first album was pretty good, probably more fun to dance, jump etc. than as real music...then they put out that incredible 7" Nothin About Nothin' that I still hear 2 or 3 times a week...and then this monster. While the first one was a funny album to kill time with, this one is a real good job. Very good production, more serious, but still makes you dance, and musically talkin', they are at their top, I think. I can't find any negative points, everything sounds perfect, is played perfect, and blah blah blah. If you don't like it, it is just because it isn't your kind of music, just wait to know well the songs. Blues, garage, punk, folk...for Now Wave guys like me. I can imagine them someday becoming as famous as the Bellrays etc...Ah no, they aren't Americans.

NASAL BOYS. Lost And Found (Swisspunk Records) 15.00 EUR. I-M-P-R-E-S-C-I-N-D-I-B-L-E

PINK SWORDS. Shut Up And Take It (Gearhead) 12.00 EUR. Here are 12 new tracks of pure, unbridled punk rock fury! Keeping it simple - but in no way safe - is what these guys do best, their classic Dead Boys / Dwarves two guitar attack has been well received by anyone who has caught them live and by the press as well. The Pink Swords have been described as "the most in your face roots style punk in years..." this is definitely a band that you'll be hearing a lot about in the upcoming months. Artwork by White Stripes illustrator Rob Jones, limited edition LP contains bonus track.

SPEEDIES. Speedy Delivery (Radio Heartbeat) 13.50 EUR. Incredible unreleased studio material from '79 to '81 plus their rare singles make up the vinyl reissue, padded by a great quality live cut of the otherwise unrecorded "Speedy Delivery." Along with bands like the COLORS and THE MARBLES, the SPEEDIES were from a cluster of amazing powerpop bands in NYC who never put out an LP. Here it is!!

TIME FLYS. Rebels Of Babylon (Birdman) 13.00 EUR. Oakland, California's enfant-terribles The Time Flys are back with another blast of rock'n'roll rebellion. Performing at the pinnacle of their powers, these guys (and gal) pick up right where their debut, Fly, left off. Together, Sir Eric "The Masher" Von Ravenson, Andy Freeze (aka Andy Jordan of The Cuts), Erin Error and Peter P. Juvenile seamlessly fuse mid '70s glam, late '70s proto-punk, and even later '70s Killed By Death-style punk to create music that, in these stale times, sounds remarkably fresh. The combination of guitar, bass, drums and attitude hasn't sounded this great since the heyday of Sire Records.
Time Flys don't simply rummage the back catalogs of the Velvets or the Voidoids; they dig deep, touching on groups like DMZ, The Real Kids, The Huns and AK-4. Unlike the kid who threw his watch out the window, the Time Flys don't dumb it down like so many balls-out punk retards-- the riffs on Rebels Of Babylon may be tough, but they're also fairly complex. In fact, The Time Flys might be the only group playing original recipe punk at this level in 2007. Doubting thomases who scoff at moderne punk groups might be surprised to discover how much they dig this.

** SINGLES **

BAYONETTES. Stuck In This Rut (Deranged) 5.50 EUR
. Review from MRR #280: I?ll never get sick of anti-work songs, and I?ve heard more than Santa has hairs on his chin. It?s even bettet when backed up with a terrific tune and classic female vocals. Two perfect little pop gems, with heavy hints of AVENGERS, X-RAYSPEX, and THE SOVIETTES without the Fat production. This hit the spot and, yes, my job sucks, my life is in a rut. I am tired of liveng, and I do dread the sound of my alarm clock. But al leats we?re got THE BAYONETTES. Now go and stick this in all of your top tens.

BENEDICT ARNOLD AND THE TRAITORS. Kill The Hostage (Putrid/Artifix) 6.00 EUR. BENEDICT ARNOLD AND THE TRAITORS were a unique band that blended political and social issues into punk as they saw it. They released the highly offensive "Kill The Hostages" single, in 1980 on Putrid Records, the band's own label, at the heighth of the hostage crisis between the U.S. and Iran and caught a lot of negative press for it. They existed on what they saw as the fringe of the scenster punk scene and tried their best to annoy and offend everyone. The band started in 1980 and lasted until 1983 when they changed their musical direction and became the ANTINOMIANS for a brief stint before changing once again into THE HUNDREDTH MONKEY.

BLACK LIPS/DEMON?S CLAWS. Split 7? (Norton) 5.50 EUR. Latest Rolling Stones cover song twin spin! Down home romps from today?s action teens! Stupendous sides, both! BLACK LIPS do ?What To Do.? DEMONS CLAWS rips ?Factory Girls.? Everybody wins!

BLACK ROSE BAND. Hot Box (Contaminated) 5.50 EUR. Review From Terminal Boredom E-Zine: With Katrina scattering NOLA's inhabitants, BLACK ROSE BAND has become KING LOUIE's post-disaster outfit, with Kajun SS's members now spread across the South, THE PERSUADERS back on the shelf and KONDOR...well, I don't know what ever happened to KONDOR. Or the LOOSE DIAMONDS. But I'm getting off track here. BRB are Louie's band right now, with other NOLA citizens who've stuck around including the guitar player from THE DETONATIONS (another band shattered by hurricane forces). Two cuts here, "Hot Box" on the A (a rewrite from the 10-4 BACKDOOR days), perhaps the finest classic rock ode to high-school smoking since Mountain's heyday. The B-Side of "Hoochie Poochie" is a humorous tale of getting pulled over while touring and finding a creative place to hide the drugs (hint: you should always have a girl in the tour van). Both songs really have a hot and sweaty Southern rock vibe with a devil-may-care 'tude, and Louie really elevates the material to upper deck status. The inclusion of lyrics on the back sleeve is a definite bonus. A must have for any Harahan Fats fan. Scum stats: 500 on black vinyl.

BLANKITOS. You Make Me Drool (Discos Chango) 5.50 EUR. Review From Terminal Boredom E-Zine: Well all right. Retarded cover art of mutant-potato-squid monster being attacked by stealth fighters while it inexplicably grips a couple of orders of french fries in its tentacles...sure, I can get into that. These moron's morons probably aren't really Spanish, as if I'm spilling some secret here, but they are funny enough. "You Make Me Drool" is choice entertainment for garage-punk lovers, at least good enough that it could have come out on Boom Boom. Actually, these kids better watch it or the FFFums might slap a different title on this pup and release it as their next million-selling EP. This humdinger is followed by "My Own Worst Enemy", which is sadly just reheated greasy garage R&B. But hell, two out three ain't bad at all. And the B-Side delivers. Really delivers. "C.H.U.D." is not only about the Eighties B-horror classic, but also manages to pack in the entire Cannibalistic-Humanoid-Underground-Dweller phrase in the refrain. It's off the charts sloppy, with a wacko sax lead (where was this guy on the A-Side?), some sweet theremin work, and they just pummel one riff-beat to shit for the duration. Absolutely shit-tastic and tons of fun. Who sez I don't like any bands from NYC? Scum stats: 300 pressed, hand-numbered.

BOSTON CHINKS. Coltrane (Goner) 5.50 EUR. Review from Victim Of Time Blog: That beautiful line between beer-flinging weekend rampage rock and admirable power-pop is the perfect sound. The hooks are contagious and dirty enough to keep the gutter smile smeared across your face, but don't sway so far into the toothsome zone of intonation to the point of feathered hair. The sweet spot of loose moral capacity, a stout guitar sound, and gruff vocals is rarely hit without a missed swing or two, but the Memphis foursome, Boston Chinks tug it out perfectly with their debut release this month on Goner Records. Although, not being from Boston, nor being Chinese, these young desperados plow through four hits without a breather and leave you salivating for more. And with a European tour backing and opening for Jay Reatard's new solo venture, you can bet we'll be hearing more from them.

BOYS CLUB. Girls Of Today (Douchemaster) 5.50 EUR. This is the second single by these Minneapolis garage poppers. The A side has girl back up vocals that remind me alot of The Lids. The B side was almost a ballad but came off as a really catchy pop song. There's plenty of grit in each song to balance the pop. If you liked the first single, you definitely want this.

BRIGADA CRIMINAL.

COCOCOMA. 6 ¼ - 125 (Goner) 5.50 EUR. Review from MRR #284: Way more '60s-influenced, fuzzed-out garage rock than their recent Shit Sandwich outing (maybe it's the addition of the organ?). None of that wimpy, authentic '60s vibe for these folks, it's total lo-fi, punked-out '60s jams like you would expect from the Memphis crowd (though these cats are from Chicago), like alot of the very early Rip-Off records stuff. The A-side is classy, but the flip is the real winner. Fuck yes!

CONCENTRATION SUMMER CAMPS. No Patines En Mi Rampa (TigruSStudio) 5.00 EUR.

DIGITAL LEATHER. She Had A Cameltoe (Goner) 5.50 EUR. Electronic, hypnotic, brilliance from Digital Leather! A-side is a catchy as hell ode to cameltoeian allure, b-side is darker synth-punkish and more like material on the Shattered Records lp.

FEVERS. Get On Again (Plastic Idol) 5.00 EUR. That THE FEVERS have written their share of memorable pop songs in their nearly decade-long run is indisputable. Since their inception in Northern California's South Bay Area in 1998, the Fevers have released two full-lengths, two 45s, and appeared on a compilation of California's best garage bands. "Get On Again" is a classic Fevers-sounding tune-a toe-tapping ballad, graced with beautiful harmonies, fuzzy guitars, and a sprinkling of quirky keys. The B-side, "Can't Be True," is brighter and more raw as it was captured "campfire style"-recorded live in a circle around a single microphone-and it finds the band paying tribute to the bubblegum classics of the '60s and '70s as only they can. Limited edition pressing of 500 copies on pink vinyl!

FINGERS. Melons On Melrose (Pure Filth) 5.50 EUR.

FUCKED UP. Dangerous Fumes (Deranged) 5.50 EUR. Toronto HC heavyweights FUCKED UP present another single of raw-ass music and thought provoking lyrics. "Dangerous Fumes" is another charged, mid-tempo hardcore punk anthem picking up where the "Litany" single left off. The B-side, "Teenage Problems" incorporates more melodies while still maintaining the punk attitude that Fucked Up has become known for.

FUCKED UP/HAYMAKER. Split 7? (Deep Six) 6.00 EUR. A vicious EP split between two of hardcore's most aggressive and rage-filled devastators. Toronto's FUCKED UP continue their killing spree with an explosion of raw, smashing, and angry-as-fuck HC, while HAYMAKER unleash another body-breaking blast of total punishment.

FUCKED UP. Police (Deranged) 5.50 EUR. Review From MRR #250: This Toronto, Canada, punk band is currently the hardest hitting crew in their town. After the brilliant "Circling the Drain" off the No PASARAN EP of 2002, FUCKED UP dropped two major bombshells on you in 2003 - the "Baiting the Public" EP and the "Police" EP - both on Deranged Records. The heavy guitar crunch of this band combined with the desperate gargle-with-battery-acid vocals make this formidable band a top contender for the crown of the Number One Canadian punk combo!

HOWIE AND THE HOTKNIVES. Want It (Felony Fidelity) 5.50 EUR. Review From NowWave E-Zine: Hot damn, what a smokin' record this is! For real! Portland, Oregon's Howie and The Hotknives cite influences such as the Reigning Sound, The Kinks, The Oblivians, The Gories, The Dirtbombs, the Beatles, Stones, and the Girls In the Garage comps. They describe their sound as a mixture of the above bands and "sweet, sweet pussy". Howie (Peasants, the Dry County Crooks, Portland), Brandi (Moodswings, Kickstarts, BitchFace), Jenny (Kickstarts, BitchFace), and Ursala are all well-known to Portland garage/rock n' roll fans, and as a group they've delivered an absolutely sensational debut single. I can just picture Little Steven Van Zandt hearing this record and crying tears of orgasmic joy before the first song is even done spinning. A-side cut "Want It" is the hit - totally great '60s garage action in the Nuggets/Back from the Grave vein, really simple and catchy as hell. I love the guy/girl call-and-response chorus (totally makes the song!) and the "ooh-sha-la-la" female backing vocals. Don't know which gal is singing, but she's freakin' fantastic. Dig the organ too. Fun, fun, fun, fun, fun! From what I can tell, this song is about fucking. And it's a great tune to listen to while fucking. B-side number "Young Fun" is a real zippin' mod/R & B scorcher - definitely gets me in a booty-shakin', head-bobbin', goodtime frame of mind.
Alright then. Ya know, it's records like this one that make doing a webzine worthwhile. Nothing beats getting a record from a band you've never heard of before and being totally floored by it. As "played out" as the garage scene may seem to many, the truth is that great rock n' roll never gets old. I'll always get off on music that's primitive, energetic, exciting, and fun. Howie and the Hotknives ain't doing anything that a gazillion and one bands haven't already done before, but they're fucking great at what they do. They've got me jonesing for another record already. Two songs are not enough!

KRUNCHIES. Tornado Of Stupidity (Certified PR) 5.50 EUR. Rippin' Chicago punk rock featuring Amanda's beguiling squeal & Kevin (BUSY SIGNALS) on guitar! Produced by Jimmy Hollywood.

LITTLE GIRLS. The Clear Album (Ramo Records) 5.50 EUR. Little Girls' unique blend of 60's pop and totally retro sounding 70s Power Pop plus Caron and Michele's distinct vocal harmonizing voices will shoot the band to stardom. By 1985, The Little Girls had made a pretty good name for themselves with their debut album "Thank Heaven" which contained the KROQ hit, and Rodney Bingenheimer fave, "The Earthquake Song." They also had one of the first videos on MTV with "How to Pick Up Girls." Producers Tim Boyle and Toby Mamis gained the Little Girls entree into a late night secret recording session at a "very huge and well known movie studio" to three tracks: Dave Clark Five's "Any Way You Want It" and originals "I Really Want To Be With You" and "Not A Perfect World." However, the band, which only consisted of Brown and the Maso sisters at the time, was in need of a rhythm section. Manager Toby Mamis (who had worked with Suzy Quatro, Joan Jett and Blondie) called in the big guns: Clem Burke and Nigel Harrison-the rhythm section of the legendary Blondie. The result of this musical combo, the Maso's brilliant harmonies and the fab recording studio situation was nothing short of amazing. As fate would have it, the aptly named "Clear Album" would never be seen or heard until now. Also added to this unreleased re-release is a 1982 demo of "Crush on You" recorded by the Podolor-Cooper Team (Electric Prunes, Three Dog Night). So play it loud and play it often! Here are the Little Girls! If you like: Nikki and the Corvettes, Blondie or The Go-Gos, you'll love the Little Girls!

OPERATION S. Is It Good (Or Is It Bad)? (Shit Sandwich) 5.50 EUR. For Shit Sandwich?s first release of 2007, they?re going international. It's OPERATION S, from France, featuring ex-members of the much beloved NO TALENTS. Two tracks of ooh la la, sexy rock?n?roll, just liked you'd expect from the country that invented tongue kissing.

PETS. Let?s Go (Douchemaster) 5.50 EUR. Two new killer tunes from Oakland's PETS. The Pets, however, sound like they might have lived down the road in LA circa 1975-76. There's a touch of punk and a hint of glam as well, but they fall perfectly into neither category. Both songs are very well planned and perfectly executed. Fans of the Time Flys 7-inches will love this new Pets single.

RETAINERS. Lose It (P.Trash) 5.50 EUR. These 4 songs of this Minneanapolis based quartet make it hard to retain yourself. The catchy starter "Lose It" could be your favorite on any Killed By Death compilation. "More More More" and "Deep In The Hole" could be taken from lost tapes of the early, reverb-laden OBLIVIANS with a huge dose of REATARDS distortion that totally comes through in the faster and punkier "In The Night".

RETAINERS. S/T (Jilted! Records) 6.00 EUR.

TRAGICS. Mummy, I?m A Misfits (Loud Punk) 6.00 EUR. Reissue. If you took the raw agression of the SEX PISTOLS mixed with with the speed of the 1st 2 RAMONES albums and threw Pauline Murry from PENETRATION on vocals you would have Albany's long overlooked THE TRAGICS. Originaly called THE MISFITS, they released this killer ep in 1981 under that name and was a hit on the underground circuit in the US and Europe. The band (Liz Davies/vocals, Bob Gori/lead guitar, Tom Collins/rhythm guitar, Wayne Haskins/bass and Brian Boldue/drums) then later changed their name to THE TRAGICS. No longer will you have to pay collector prices for this gem. It will be limited to 500 copys. 100 on black vinyl with silk screened covers and 400 on coke bottle clear and standard printed glued jackets.
